Review –
If you
were to ask me to give an example for the old saying ‘ DON’T judge a book by
its cover ‘ , the first answer that would e coming out of my mouth would be
‘Gideon’s Corpse’.
I was entirely fooled by the front cover and the summary of
the story of the story on the back cover. But this book follows the same
routine storyline of a protagonist chasing a criminal but ends up getting
framed and now he becomes the hunted and he tries to clear his name while at
the same time he tries to catch the perpetrator . I'm sure you would have read
a 100 books which more or less follows the same storyline . Hell , you would
find this storyline even in many of the Hardy Boys , Nancy Drew , Famous Five books [ No offence to those books . They are a great series of books for the younger age group ] .
But the
idea of Preston and Child following the same storyline for a books which is
aimed at a older age group is lame . The only difference is the backdrop and
the scenario of the story . This is the poorest excuse to an electrifying
thriller book I have ever read!
To sum it up –
The Negatives –
1 – Same old storyline
2 – Lacklustre plot
3 – Very Predictable
The Positives –
Only one I’m
afraid ..
1 – The authors’ style of writing is good .
Rating – 5.5/10
Comment –
If you are new to
the genre of thrillers then you would find this book kinda riveting . But if
you are veterans like me then avoid this please..!!
